Abstract

258,497. Harry, D. March 27, 1926. Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.-The flues 2, 3, 4 of a boiler of the Lancashire, Cornish, or like type are cleaned by providing a duct 6 beneath them into which the soot falls through openings 5, 8, the soot being ejected by means of steam or air under pressure delivered from a pipe 15 through jets 17, which opens a door 11 at one end of the duct and also blows out the soot. In order that the draught from flue 2 to flue 3 may not be short-circuited when the duct is empty, doors 7 are provided to close the openings 8, the doors being operated simultaneously from a handle 14.
