Abstract

361,213. Switch handles. STEGE, E. SCHREIBER-, 39, Arndtstrasse, Feudenheim, Mannheim, Germany. Feb. 19, 1931, No. 5272. Convention date, Feb. 21, 1930. [Class 38 (v).] A device for preventing unauthorized use of a motor vehicle comprises a key-operated switch which causes an alarm circuit to be completed on insertion of the wrong key. One pole of a supply battery 1 is connected to the lighting circuit 5, ignition circuit 2, and horn 10, and the other pole is connected to a spring contact 20. A spring plunger 16 has a contact 17 which normally connects the contact 20 to a spring contact 18 and contact 4. A movable contact 3 is connected to the ignition circuit 2 and through switches 8, 15, to the lighting circuit and horn, respectively. A spring contact 19 is connected to the lighting circuit and horn or to one only, and if desired the switches 8, 15 may be bridged, as shown in crossed lines. The bridging is not required if contacts 9, 14 are provided to co-operate with the switch arms 8, 15 in their off positions. To use the vehicle a key 21 is inserted which closes contacts 3, 4 to complete the necessary circuits. The switches 8, 15 may then be used at will to close the lighting and horn circuits. The member 16 seats in a. recess in the key. If a wrong key is inserted the member 16 is depressed to break the ignition circuit and to connect the contact 20 to contact 19 and thus complete the lighting and horn circuits to give an alarm. A screw 22 is provided for adjusting the lock switch along the key barrel. In a modification, a further contact is provided so that an attempt to complete the ignition circuit by short-circuiting the lock switch will result in sounding the horn. The switch may he incorporated in the lock of a door of the vehicle.
