Abstract

In the moulding and vulcanizing of rubber goods, particularly boots, a sleeve or liner of flexible or semirigid material such as vulcanite, rubber, asbestos, canvas, or combinations thereof, is formed on a metal model of the goods, confined externally during setting or vulcanizing, and used as a shaping means for the goods. By making a series of liners of varying thickness, the same external rigid mould can be employed for making a range of sizes. In the case of boot liners, a light spring may be inserted round the welt, and the liner may be open at the back to facilitate manipulation. Specification 349,021 is referred to.
