Abstract

360,737. Game apparatus. EVANS, J. E., Empire House, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff. Jan. 6, 1931, No. 433. [Class 132 (ii).] . The projector for an indoor bowl game comprises a pivoted arm provided with a bowl holder at its end, and a member slidable with respect to and disposed within or adjacent to this arm which retains the bowl in the holder during delivery until the arm reaches a predetermined position when the ball is released. The tubular arm 7 ending in a holder 9 is mounted in plates 8 in the bodv 6. A rod 10 slidable within the arm 7 is bent at right-angles to pass through the plates 8, its further end 11 being anchored to a spring 12. In operation, the bowl, preferably of solid metal, is placed within the holder 9 and the arm 7, which at its other end is anchored by a member 12<1> to a spring 13, is turned backwards by hand whereupon, the rod 10 and arm 7 rotating about different centres, the former slides down the tube 7 and retains the bowl. Upon release, the arm 7 returns under the action of springs 12, 13 until held by a stop 30 abutting against the member 12<1>, the point of release of the bowl being dependent on the length of the rod 10. The figure may be suitably covered. The bowls are projected on to a cloth or baize 26 stretched between rods detachably fixed in the pivoted side members 19, 20 and 17, 18 respectively. Legs 21, 22 may be provided at one end only if the frame is to rest upon a table. Bias is given to the cloth instead of the ball by fixing a board 27 thereto causing sagging. Lateral stretching of the baize may be effected by fixing a rod 29 between the side members capable of expanding the latter to which the baize is secured by hooks.
