Abstract

360,724. Brushing apparatus for cleaning cooking moulds. OTT, C. S. and LEWIS, J. R., 2200, Union Street, San Francisco, U.S.A. Dec. 19, 1930, No. 38353. [Classes 19 and 138 (i).] A machine for cleaning ham-boiling moulds comprises a tank 1, Fig. 1, for a cleansing fluid in which are supported, on a removable frame 2, a vertical brush between two horizontal ones. The horizontal brushes consist of a number of sections mounted on shafts 6, 28 which are driven, from a gear wheel 18 on a motor shaft, by a chain 15 which engages sprockets intermediate two of the brush sections. The brush 34 is driven by bevel gearing 26, 27 from a shaft 12, which is rotated by the chain 15. The brush sections are in two parts 35, 36, Fig. 4, clamped together by screws 42, each part consisting of a semi-annular portion with radial openings 37 for receiving double strands of bristle tufts 39, perferably of wire. The centre 40 is formed of a readily fusible metal by removing which the bristles may be renewed.
