[Class 40 (iv).] A telephone mouthpiece a is formed with a removable part c adapted to slide in a slot in the mouthpiece and having a longitudinal bore therein for accommodating a disinfecting medium, a series of perforations f leading from the bore to the interior of the mouthpiece. The disinfecting medium may be a solid disinfectant deposited on a fine wire g, a wire covered with absorbent material impregnated with liquid disinfectant or pellets of solid disinfectant. The wire g is shown as formed with a head h which is accommodated in a corresponding recess in the base of the slot. The part c may be notched at k to facilitate its withdrawal.
