[Class 50.] Packet firelighters comprise readily inflammable liquid such as petrol, heavy benzol, absorbed in granular or powdered filling material such as charcoal, peat dust, sawdust, coke dust, infusorial silica, the relative proportions being regulated to alter the rate of combustion. The mass is coated with a combustible sealing liquid such as paraffin, vaseline oil, watchmaker's oil, and secondly with a viscous rubber compound comprising a mixture of waste rubber, crude petroleum, &c. The material is then pressed into paper bags, which may include inner and outer envelopes, provided internally with a coating of a mixture of oils, paraffin wax, resin, gutta-sink, guttapercha, guayule, &c., and externally with a rapidly burning compound containing e.g. oxygen carriers and red phosphorus, antimony sulphide, stearate, potassium, chromate, lead peroxide, diazo compounds, double cyanides such as Prussian blue and Turnbull's blue.
