359,253. Shank stiffeners for boots and shoes. HEIN, P., 2, Stormstrasse, Baumschulenweg, Germany. Nov. 18, 1930, No. 34742. Convention date, July 2. [Class 17 (ii).] A stiffener for the shank of a shoe &c. comprises an upper part b of cardboard extending from the heel to the ball of the foot and adapted to be secured at its side edges to the upper, and an under part a of harder cardboard which is of the shape of the welt in the heel only and from the heel to the ball is kept narrower, the sides and tip being bevelled. The part a may, if desired, be strengthened by a strip of steel.
