Abstract
359,242. Vibration-dampers. CROSS, R. C., 17, Old Warminster Road, Odd Down, and HARPER, W. E., Jesmond Dene, Warminster Road, Bathampton, both in Bath. Nov. 10, 1930, No. 33761. [Class 108 (iii). Vibration-dampers applied for example to the suspension or the steering mechanism of motor vehicles comprise two relatively slidable members 1, 2 with frictional engaging means, the free end of each member being provided with a flexible joint 13 of rubber reinforced with canvas or similar material to give flexibility without allowing extension or compression. The joint may be of cylindrical shape engaging end sockets 12, 14. The frictional engaging means includes two friction pads 6, 7, a pressure plate 5 and a leaf spring 8, the ends of which enter bridges 3, 4 secured to the member 2.
