Abstract
358,916. Television. WILSON, J. C. and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 133, Long Acre, London. July 14, 1930, No. 21254. [Class 40 (iii).] Scanning reflectors 71 are arranged on the inside of a curved surface 3. The surface may be cylindrical, conical, spherical, or ellipsoidal. As shown the reflectors are discrete and cover only a small portion of the surface, but they may be contiguous and cover the whole surface, Figs. 3, 5 and 6 (not shown). An image of an object is formed on the surface and is cyclically traversed by the helix of mirrors, which reflect light from successive elements to a light-sensitive cell 141 within the surface, or an image is formed in the plane of an aperture in front of the cell and is traversed over the aperture by the mirrors, or a light source is mounted within the surface and focused on the object as a spot of intense light, which is traversed over the object by the mirrors. A plurality of cells or light sources 141, 142, 143 within the surface may be associated with corresponding series 71, 72, 73 for the simultaneous transmission of a plurality of zones. The cells or light sources may be mounted outside the scanning-surface, which is made transparent, Fig. 6 (not shown).
