Abstract

358,611. Foot-arch supports. THACKRAY, C. F., 10, Park Street, Leeds. July 18, 1930, No. 21728. [Class 81 (ii).] In a foot-arch support of the type in which an insole or sock is provided with an internal main reinforcing pad designed to support the longitudinal arch of the foot, in conjunction with a separate resilient meta-tarsal pad located in front of the main pad, the main and meta-tarsal pads are permanently secured between peripherally connected upper and lower coverings on the insole or sock and the main pad is of a shape conforming at its sides to the inner and outer longitudinal edges of the insole or sock. As shown in the Figure, the main pad a of cork is inserted between upper and lower canvas linings b, c adhesively secured between coverings d of thin leather secured together by stitching f, whilst the meta-tarsal pad g of sponge rubber is located between the upper canvas lining and the upper covering d. Ventilation holes h, i may be provided at the rear and front ends of the sock.
