Abstract

357,702. Cupping. RODE, F. J., 6500, West 65th Street, Chicago, U.S.A. July 29, 1930, No, 22777. [Class 83 (iv).] The draw ring -20 ofa cupping press is yieldingly supported by a pressure pad 23, which forces pistons 32 down into the tubular cylinders 29 thereby compressing the fluid (air) contained in the hollow 27 formed in the press bed. The hollow bed is supplied with pressure regulated fluid from an external pressure system. To prevent immediate return of the draw ring after the working stroke the pistons are provided with rods 57, Fig. 5 which connect with cylinders 60 moving down over fixed pistons 59 through which liquid 63 is drawn into the cylinders 60 and trapped there until released by a valve 66, Fig; 7, opened by cam and links from the same crank shaft. The liquid 63 lies in the bottom of the hollow press bed, and is available for drawing into the cylinder 60 and is then forced back into. the hollow bed.
