Abstract

382,133. Cupping. GLASNER, R. W. and RODE, F. J., 6500, West 65th Street, Chicago, U.S.A. Jan. 12, 1932, No. 874. [Class 83 (iv).] In sheet metal stamping presses of the type comprising a stationary bed 23, a reciprocating ram 20, a pneumatically supported die 24 to co-operate with the ram, and pneumatic locking means to prevent premature return of the die after a working stroke, one end of the cushioning cylinders 31 is continuously open to compressed air within the hollow bed 11, while one end of the locking cylinders 40 is continuously open to atmosphere. Fluid pressure is supplied to the bed 11 through pipes 35, while the upper side of the pistons 32 in cylinders 31 is connected alternately to pressure and exhaust in the usual manner, the fluid being controlled by valves operated by cam discs 57 rotated from the main drive shaft 13.
