[Class 40 (v).] An aerial is in the form of a helix the developed length of each turn of which is equal to twice the wave-length and the pitch of which is equal to the wave-length. In the example described each turn consists of four straight portions, half a wavelength long, each advancing a quarter wavelength in the direction of the axis of the helix. The aerial is directive, the direction of maximum propagation or reception being that of the axis of the helix, and prevents the effects of fading due to the change of polarization of incoming waves. Several aerials may be used to enhance the directional effect.
