Abstract
356,589. Door holders; cotters. KENNEDY, G. S., Otway, Kent View Road, Vange Pitsea, Essex, KAYE, J. V., and DIGGLE, H., Lock Works, Hunslet, Leeds. Dec. 1, 1930, No. 36112. [Classes 65 (i) and 89 (ii).] A holder for cabin doors comprises a quadrant A, fixed to the door frame above the door, and a sliding engaging device S, carried on a bracket B on the door. The engaging device has two friction pads F, pressed by adjustable springs against opposite faces of the quadrant bar A. The engaging device is reversible, and is attached resiliently to the bracket B by studs B<1>, which pass through conical washers S<2> in double conical holes in the member S and carry springs between the washers S<2> and cotters W. The studs B<1> have small T-heads, and the cotters W are circular, having a slot W<1>, Fig. 5, to pass over the T-head of the stud and indentations W<2> to engage the underside of the T-head when the cotter is given a quarter turn, to fit it on the stud. A bolt or other device may be provided on the door to engage the quadrant and pin the door in any position ; this bolt may be operated from inside the cabin by suitable means, such as a " Bowden " wire.
