Abstract

In the process for dyeing and printing by means of ester salts of leuco vat dyes by the process of the parent Specification, aluminium chlorate is employed as oxidizing agent. The use of substances yielding acid on steaming (see Specifications 281,336 and 306,800, [both in Class 15 (ii), Dyeing, Processes &c. for],) and oxidation catalysts is thereby rendered unnecessary. In examples, cotton is printed with pastes containing the leuco ester salts of 5 : 51 - dichlor - 7 : 71 - dimethylthioindigo, 5 : 7 : 51 : 71-tetrabrom indigo or of the dyestuff from a -isatinanilide and 1-methyl-7 : 8-(11-oxybenzo)-carbazole, thiodiethyleneglycol, gum tragacanth, and aluminium chlorate, and the prints are dried, steamed, and soaped.
