Abstract
356,171. Silencing percussive tools. SIMPSON, G. and IMPROVED WOOD PAVEMENT CO., Ltd., Blackfriars House, New Bridge Street, London. March 28, 1930, No. 9868. [Class 124.] A silencer particularly applicable to pneumatically actuated rock drills, concrete breakers, and like percussive tools, comprises a casing 1 and a cover-plate 2 having a part 3 of concave form to permit of the ready attachment of the silencer to the cylinder of the tool. The casing is divided transversely by a partition 6 having perforations 7. Inlet pipes 10, 11 are supported in an end wall and in the partition by nuts 12, 13. An outlet pipe 18 is supported in the other end wall and in the partition by nuts 20, 21, 19 of which 19 is screwed down on to the nuts 12 to lock them. The nut 21 serves also to secure a plate 22 having an aperture 23 to permit of the passage therethrough of the pneumatically actuated drill. The casing is further held in position by one or more metal straps. The pipes 10, 11 are connected to opposite ends of the cylinder by flexible tubing and elbow pieces.
