Abstract
355,973. Fuel &c. reservoirs on motor vehicles. SOKAL, S., 1, Great James Street, Bedford Row, London.- (Fiat Soc. Anon. ; 250, Via Nizza, Turin, Italy.) Sept. 17, 1930, No. 27813. [Class 79 (iii).] The filling orifice of a fuel tank or other liquid reservoir on a motor vehicle is arranged slightly below the outer line of the body and is concealed by a hinged or removable cover which is arranged in the line of the body. As applied to a fuel tank 2 housed between the windscreen and the bonnet, the top of the filling mouth 1, which is provided with the usual screw cap 12 and packing ring 13, lies within the line of the body 4 and is concealed by a cover 14, pivoted at 15, which closely follows the body line, resting in its closed position upon a stop 16. Around the mouth 1 is a collecting recess 3 for spilt fuel &c., a screwed collar 11 in conjunction with a packing ring 10 forming a tight joint therebetween. The spilt fuel is allowed to escape through an opening 8 in a vertical screen 5 associated with the dashboard sheet 7, being carried away and deposited under the vehicle by a transverse channel or conduit 9.
