Abstract

355,455. Wood block flooring and paving. BENNETT, A. H. J., 25, Roland Road, Walthamstow, London. July 14, 1930, No. 21264. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] A paving block has vertically disposed projecting ribs 2, 4 on two sides, while the remaining sides are recessed at theii lower parts 8, 9. The ribs are formed in. tegral with the block, which, if of wood, may be shaped by profiling a plank, sawing into blocks, and then profiling the rerecesses 8, 9. The blocks may be laid as shown in Fig. 5, the spaces formed by the ribs and recessed portions being filled with a binder, such as bitumen. In a modification, the faces 6, 7 of the block are recessed to receive part of the ribs 2, 4, thus reducing but not eliminating the spaces between the blocks.
