Abstract

355,025. Wet doubling frames. COWPERTHWAITE, W. and PRESTON TYRE FABRIC MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., Croft Street Mill, Preston. Aug. 15, 1930, No. 24430. [Class 120 (ii).] In a wet doubling frame a single trough extends centrally along the frame, the threads being guided from the frame creel through the trough to delivery rollers on either side of the frame. A beam 17 extends the length of the frame and carries a pedestal 19 containing a sheet metal trough 20 with beaded edges 21. Brackets 16 secured to the beam 17 support a thread board 14 carrying thread guides 15. Yarns x, y coming from a creel pass under a rod 22 fixed in the trough and over rods 23 to delivery rollers for the doubling spindles. The path of the threads through the moistening liquid may be varied and the height of the rod in the trough may be adjustable. In place of one long trough extending the whole length of the frame several small troughs may be used each one receiving yarns from both banks of spindles.
