Abstract
354,980. Boxes for gramophone needles. SCHARF, J. and SCHARF, H., (trading as SCHARF GEB.), 34, Skalitzerstrasse, Berlin. July 21, 1930, No. 21962. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1929. [Class 18.] A box for gramophone needles comprises tubular members 1, 9 slidable one within the other so that a single needle is fed into delivery position and removed from the container by means of upwardly projecting plates 6, 7, 8 carried by the member 1 acting in co-operation with a needle magazine 12 and inclined guide surface 14, 15 carried by the member 9. The tube 1 has a flange 2 so that by screws 4 it may be fixed to a gramophone 5. Vertical plates 6, 7, 8 are fixed to the bottom 3 of the tube 1 so that when the movable tube 9 is depressed the plate 6 will pass through the needle magazine 12 and a needle will roll down the inclined guide surface 14 so that when, under the influence of the spring 16, the tube 9 returns to the raised position, the needle 18 will come to rest on the top of the plate 7. By a repetition of these operations the needle passes by means of the inclined surface 15 to the plate 8 the top of which has a groove: to receive the needle and an aperture, across which the needle lies bridge-like to allow of its easy removal. The plate 8 projects from a slit 10 in the lid 11 of the tube 9 when this tube is in the depressed position. A pin on the tube 9 slides in a groove in the tube 1 to limit the movement of the tube 9 in either the upward or the downward direction. The lid 11 of the tube 9 is covered with a disc 23 rotatable about an axle 22 to an extent which is limited by an abutment 25 on the lid 11 moving in a slot 24 in the disd 23. By rotation of the disc 23 a slot 26 therein may be arranged to coincide with the slot 10 to permit of delivery of the needles. To refill the container the opening 27 in the disc 23 is made to coincide with an opening 28 in the lid 11 just above the needle magazine 12. If desired, instead of mounting the tube 1 on a gramophone it may be provided with a removable foot and used separately from the gramophone.
