Abstract
354,525. Securing joint pins. WOLSELEY MOTORS (1927), Ltd. and TOWLER, C. O., Drew's Lane, Ward End, Birmingham. July 21, 1930, No. 21934. [Classes 65 (ii) and 89 (ii).] The pin 3 of a knuckle-joint is secured by a cotter formed of spring wire, of which the legs 5 pass through holes in the projecting ends of the pin and bear against shoulders, 4 on the forked member of the joint. These legs are slightly bent during insertion, and when in place the transverse part of the cotter springs into a notch 7 in the joint member. The cotter is bent to form fingerpieces 8 for convenience in insertion or removal. The transverse portion of the cotter may be offset from the plane of the legs if necessary to suit the shape of the joint member.
