Abstract

354,492. Antidazzle screens for motor vehicles. AUSTER, L. W., LANE, P., and LAIT, A. E., 174, Barford Street, Birmingham. June 25, 1930, No. 19294. [Class 103 (ii).] An antidazzle device for motor vehicles comprises a screen 1 of coloured glass, celluloid, &c., slidably carried by and pivotally mounted between the arms of a U-frame 3 so as to be adjustable. in height and also angularly relatively to the frame, clamping means for securing the screen in the desired position, and an attachment device for securing the U-frame to the interior of the vehicle or to the windscreen to enable the frame to be moved transversely in front of the driver and angularly relatively to the attachment device. The attachment device comprises a pair of clamping- plates 4, 5 provided with opposed grooves 4a, 5a for embracing the horizontal bar of the U-frame, the rear plate 4 having holes 6 to receive attachment screws and being secured to the plate 5 by adjusting bolts 7, 8 and nuts 11, 12. By slackening the nut 11 the frame may be moved transversely or angularly. The screen 1 has metal end members 2 carrying plates 13 adapted to turn about bolts 14 having holes 15 through which pass the arms of the U-frame. Each bolt 14 is formed with a head 14a at its inner end and is fitted with gapped clamping sleeves 16, 17 which can be forced to grip an arm of the U-frame by means of a nut 18, the plate 13 at the same time being clamped between the head 14a of the bolt and the inner sleeve 16.
