Abstract

352,123. Ornamenting. HELLMANN, H., 42, Philippstrasse, AUFERMANN, W. and AUFERMANN, W., (trading as AUFERMANN & SÍHNE, C.), both in Ludenscheid, Westphalia, Germany. April 22, 1930, No. 12420. [Class 93.] A plate. or frame h bearing a letter, badge, or other ornamentation is detachably secured to a belt buckle, cigarette case, or other article by forming the edge of the plate with a roll i adapted to engage a rim on the article in the manner of a press-button. Figs. 1 to 3 show the application of a plate h to a belt-fastener of the type having a lever clip c to engage one end of the belt and a bar d guided in inclined slots to grip the other end of the belt frictionally. The baseplate a of the fastener has an aperture conforming to the shape of the plate, the edge of the aperture having a grooved rim k to receive the roll i and tongues g which grip the roll. The plate may be in the form of a frame in which the badge &c. is carried, the ornamentation being exhibited through a window aperture which may bave a celluloid &c. protective covering. The frame may also carry a backing-plate to support the badge &c. Fig. 5 shows a form in which the baseplate a has no aperture, and is formed with a groove r with an overhanging edge which grips the rolled edge of the ornamental plate.
