Abstract

231,046. Loach, A. B., and Loach, J. H. June 10, 1924. Bracelets, bangles, rings, &c. are provided' with one or more bridge-pieces under which the ends of an ornamental strip or strips may be engaged and detachably retained so that the decorative effect of the bracelet &c. may be varied. The sides of the strip or strips may, in addition, be engaged under rolled or flanged edges on the bracelet &c. Fig. 1 shows a bracelet a provided with a strip c of celluloid or other material engaged under the flanged edges b of the bracelet and under a bridge-piece d. Fig. 2 shows a horizontal cross-sectional view of the bridge-piece d, the edges x of which, under which the ends of the strip c are engaged, may be curled under or split to grip the end of the strip. Fig. 3 shows a modification in the construction of the bridgepiece d in which the bracelet is slotted behind the bridge-piece, the ornamental strip c being passed out through this slot from inside and around the bracelet until the end is secured between the inclined part f and the bridge-piece, the other end being disposed as shown. In other modifications springs or spring-pressed pads are used to clamp the ends of the strip against the bridge-piece. Specification 230,986 is referred to.
