349,517. Railway signalling apparatus. BECQ, A., 80, Rue Monge, Paris. Feb. 27, 1930, No. 6505. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1929. [Class 105.] Track apparatus actuating signals other than on trains.-A track device actuated by the passage of a train to control an electric circuit comprises a body of copper with a coating of copper oxide formed thereon which is subjected to a mechanical pressure varied by the weight of the passing train to cause a variation in the electrical conductivity. The device suitably comprises a copper plate G with a coating of cuprous oxide H and a lead plate M on which the mechanical pressure is applied. With alternating current the device acts as a rectifier so that two devices are necessary. The device shown is actuated by rail deflection and comprises a frame A which carries a bracket P slidably supporting a stem O of a pressure plate N and is attached to the rail by projections B, C passing under the foot thereof; a member E which acts on the stem of the pressure plate N is attached to the foot of the rail at an intermediate point. The pressure is adjusted by a set-screw F and is determined by the strength of the spring L.
