[Classes 23 and 86.] A machine for mixing foundry sand &c. comprises a horizontal rotating pan 1 fitted with fixed blades 6 and with a mixing and discharging device comprising a casing 4 fitted with a handoperated shutter 5 and blades 3 mounted on a shaft 2. While the shutter is closed the sand &c. is mixed by the blades and returned to the pan. On opening the shutter, the sand is projected through the casing. The shutter may be dispensed with, the machine then working continuously.
