724,317. Cutting meat. ALEXANDERWERK AKT.-GES., and JAEGER, C. F. March 25, 1953. [March 25, 1952] No. 8298/53. Class 5 (1). [Also in Groups II, VI and XXIV] Meat put into a stationary spherical container 3 is cut, mixed and kneaded by rotating cutters 19 and at least one arcuate scraper 20 close to the container inside and mounted on a tool shaft 10. The scrapers may be of scoop like form at an angle to one another and extend as far as the space swept out by the cutters. A removable lid 27 with safety switch allows the tool shaft and tools to be lifted out as a unit after release from its end bearings. Release is done by pivoting up a latch 18 so that a handle 16 can be screwed out thus withdrawing a bearing pin 13 against the spring 14 from the roller bearing on the tool shaft. The other end of 10 is moved back from the square end drive 8 of the motor shaft 7. To empty the container it can be rotated to upside down position by a hand lever 24 after a spring- pressed pin 25 thereon is released from its locking notch 28. In Fig. 2 the scrapers are replaced by mixing arms 32 and the motor 4 drives through a gear box 33. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the container, consisting of 2 hemispheres clamped together, is overhung from the motor casing. In Fig. 5 change of speed is obtained by a stepped pulley 48 on the tool shaft 10 driven from friction roller 47 on the shaft of the motor 4, the motor being spring mounted at 49 to allow the friction roller to engage any step of the pulley. A hand lever 51 slides the stepped pulley along the shaft as required. An alternative change speed gear Fig. 6, is located between the motor 4 and the tool shaft 10 comprising friction lined wheels 53 and 59. The wheel 53 is moved up or down by handle 68 to engage either its annulus 58 or its boss 56 with a driven friction roller 47 the other side 57 of the boss engaging the boss 61 of the wheel 59. Alternatively, the motor 4 only may be moved down so that 47 drives 56, and 57 drives the annulus 62.
