[Class 52 (iv).] In a spring assembly consisting of intertwined, vertical upholstery springs in a medially arranged peripheral frame c, the edge springs g are, for the whole or a part of their length, formed by two or more coiled wires o, p in substantially parallel relation. The frame is preferably situated at the inner boundary of the edge springs and the doubled edge springs can conveniently be produced by assembling rows of springs made from a continuous wire, the end spring of each row being offset at right-angles to the row as in Fig. 4.
