Abstract

348,109. Light sensitive cells. AU.DUBERT, R., 27, Rue de Jussien, Paris. Feb. 4, 1930, No. 3801. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1929. [Class 40 (iii).] In a light sensitive current-generating cell for use with ultra-violet or R÷ntgen rays a fluorescent screen is arranged in front of, or incorporated in the light sensitive electrode or in the liquid in the cell so as to transform the incident ray into a fluorescent ray capable of energizing the electrode. For use with ultra-violet rays the screen may be of uranium glass or a solution of salts of uranium, eosin, esculin, fluorescin or rhodamin ; esculin produces a blue fluorescence and is suitable for an electrode of silver sulphide, rhodamin produces a red fluorescence. For use with R÷ntgen rays the fluorescent material may be uranium glass, calcium tungstate or barium platino-cyanide. The material may be incorporated in celluloid, wax, dextrine, casein, or gelatine. Electrodes consisting of oxides, sulphides, bromides, iodides, chlorides or fluorides of copper, silver, or tin are referred to.
