Abstract

348,067. Overhead travellers and transporters. PETERSEN, R., 19, Schlossgarten, Oliva, Danzig. Feb. 3, 1930, No. 3604. Convention date, Feb. 8, 1929. [Class 78 (iv).] An aerial transporter for carrying goods across rivers, gorges, &c., comprises a cable 12 passing over supporting pulleys 3, 4, the ends of the cable being articulated to each other and a load carrier suspended from the joint, the carrier being moved to and fro by driving gear 14, 15, and being raised and lowered by means of tension pulleys 9 which are hauled down or released by hoisting gear 10. Alternatively the load may be traversed by driving one of the supporting pulleys 3, 4. The weight of the carrier is partly balanced by weights 11, and weights 17 may be connected over pulleys 17 to the hoisting gear 10 so that if the carrier is hoisted unduly the weights 18 are raised from the ground, thus avoiding excessive stress in the cable 12. The installation may comprise three separate cables side by side, the centre cable being as shown in Fig. 10 and the outer two cables as shown in Fig. 11, the centre cable alone being provided with traversing gear. In this case the articulated joint 6 is formed by a frame carrying the load carrier. The installation may have hoisting gear at one or both ends. The hoisting gear 10 may be a winch barrel as shown, or a hydraulic or screw and nut device. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes an aerial transporter in which the ends of a cable 12, Fig. 12 (Cancelled), are articulated to a frame 19 carrying pulleys 20 round which passes the cable 21 of a pulley tackle 22 from which the load carrier is suspended. The cable 21 passes round separate supporting pulleys 23 at each end of the run, and may be hauled in or payed out by drums 24. When the frame 19 is traversed the cable 21 runs round the pulleys 20, 22 and the load remains at a constant height. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
