Channels 5, 6 in the guide walls communicate with the falciform or annular space 7 in the cover 9 ; gases, to dissolve in the material or to react therewith, are passed into the chamber 7 and the channels 5, 6, from which they pass into the material by small openings 8. Where a gas is not easily soluble in the material only the guide wall 3 has gas channels.
