Abstract

Bricks to be burnt in a kiln or clamp are interspersed with tiles or blocks of fuel to distribute the fire throughout the stack. The tiles may be of combustible carbonaceous matter such as coal, coke breeze, peat, paper, cardboard, wood chippings, sawdust, clay containing oil, house refuse, steam-boiler, kiln or furnace refuse, or the like. To facilitate circulation of air in the stack the fuel tiles are formed with corrugations or with vertical and horizontal grooves and perforations. The residue after burning may be used in the manufacture of concrete blocks for road-making and building. Specification 13637/86, [Class 50, Fuel, Manufacture of], is referred to.
