Abstract

9672. Glaser, M. April 24. Materials, special, for bricks. - Cellular material produced by burning a mixture of clay and coal, coke, sawdust, straw, waste soil, and coal discarded at the coal pits, or other fuel, is broken up and mixed with clay to form bricks which are subsequently burnt in the usual manner; or it may be mixed with cement to form concrete, with lime for plastering purposes, or may be otherwise utilized. The mixture of clay and fuel may be first dried in a rotary tube furnace and is then burnt, preferably in a fire-place with a free draught. The heat evolved by the burning mixture may be used for raising steam, heating brick kilns, or for other purposes.
