[Classes 18, 94 (i), and 94 (ii).] In a receptacle for liquids, semi-solids, &c., comprising a waterproof paper carton of truncated, pyramidal form, the widened upper end which projects above the contents space and .has formed therein whilst in the blank scores adapted to indicate the closure folds required, is folded down upon a hard core temporarily located within the contents space in order definitely to bend or preform the closure folds so that the final closing will be facilitated. Such cartons can be nested when empty. A blank, Fig. 1, formed with folding lines 2 and closure creases 11, and provided with a strip 4 of waterproof glue and another strip 5 of warm glue, is folded into U-shape round a form 6, Fig. 2 ; a bottom piece 7 is inserted from above against the end face of the form ; the blank is folded to encircle the form and is glued down ; and the bottom edges are then folded over and glued to the piece 7 and the whole bottom is subjected to pressure. A label &c. may be glued on to the outside of the bottom. A hard core corresponding to the contents is inserted in the carton and the closure folded down, Fig. 9, so as to " break the creases." When the carton is to be finally closed down, the upper part 12 may be folded over several times at the creases 11 and sealed with a metal clip or pressed between heated blocks so that the paraffin is softened and then allowed to reset.
