Abstract

Moulds for forming articles of magnesite compositions, and screeds and ribs for defining and marking floors and like surfaces of this material cast in situ, are coated with a gelatinous or glutinous preparation prior to use, so that the magnesite will not adhere to them. For example to 8 ozs. of gelatine dissolved in water is added 1 1/2 drams of salicylic acid dissolved in 2 ozs. of methylated spirit, with or without the addition of a small proportion of glycerine. The mixture is brushed or sprayed on to the surfaces and allowed to dry.
