Abstract

The usual method of producing bricks, blocks, tiles, &c. by moistening a mass of natural clay, moulding, drying the moulded article and baking is modified by adding 1-10 per cent, usually 1 1/2 -5 per cent, cement to the clay to accelerate the drying. After baking and cooling the article should be saturated with water for a short time. A small quantity of fluorite may also be added to the cement to increase the hardness of the product. Specification 12597/08, [Class 70], is referred to.
