Abstract
346,524. Supporting telephone instruments. SIEMENS BROS. & CO., Ltd.,. Caxton House, Tothill Street, and GOODWIN, W. E., 72, Glyndon Road, Plumstead, both in London. Feb. 24, 1930, No. 6048. [Class 40 (iv).] In a telephone instrument of the kind in which the circuit contacts are controlled by the weight of a receiver or hand micro-telephone when hung upon the switch-hook, the hook or support 1 for receiving a micro-telephone is fixed to the instrument and has a forked end, which is designed to embrace the handle of the micro-telephone and between the springs of which is pivoted a finger 2 adapted, when the micro-telephone is replaced, to be depressed so as to effect the circuit changes. In the construction shown the finger 2 is pivoted near its inner end 3 on brackets 4 mounted in the casing 5 and carries a bent strip 6 fitted with a projection 7, which is made of insulating material and is arranged to press back a blade-spring 8 and separate the circuit contacts. When the microtelephone is lifted a helical spring 9 raises the finger 2 and allows the circuit contacts to close. In a modification the finger 2 is pivoted centrally and its inner end actuates a spring-controlled rod having a cam-shaped end adapted directly to engage and separate the circuit contacts.
