Abstract
345,475. Bedsteads. HOSKINS, H. R. and HOSKINS & SEWELL, Ltd., Midland Works, Bordesley, Birmingham. March 11, 1930, No. 7835. [Class 52 (i).] A hospital or like bedstead has, near the middle, an undercarriage by means of which it can be readily wheeled about. Fig. 1 shows a bedstead with an undercarriage 3, stiffened by a strut 6. The foot of the bed has stump feet 8, and also castors 9 which may be moved down to the feet so as to raise them from the floor; the bed is then supported on the castors or wheels 5, 9, and may be readily moved about. The wheels 5 are normally in the planes of the side-frames 4 of the bed, and are retained in that position by a spring plunger 16, Fig. 4, entering an aperture 15 in the stem 14 of the castor. The plunger 16 may be withdrawn by a Bowden wire 17, and the wheels 5, turned so as to facilitate sidewise movement of the bed. Stump feet 8 may be fitted at the head of the bed, or at both head and foot.
