Abstract

345,061. Fluid-pressure brakes. ELECTRO-MECHANICAL BRAKE CO., Ltd. and CADBURY, G. N., Eagle Works, West Bromwich. Feb. 25, 1930, No. 6204. [Class 103 (i).] In fluid-operated brakes for tramway, railway and like vehicles the wheel and track brakes are controlled by interconnected inlet valves a and outlet valves d, a handle h being provided capable of movement in any desired direction for actuating the valves either individually or collectively. The inner ends of the stems b, e of each pair of valves a, d are pivotally connected by a bar c or f and the handle h, pivoted at one end by a universal joint g, passes between the bars c, f and also through a control gate j at the front of the valve casing. A vertical movement of the handle when in the control position shown in Fig. 1 presses the bar c or the bar f to operate both valves a or both valves d, while any one valve a or d can be operated by moving the handle sideways until it is opposite the appropriate valve and then by moving it vertically.
