Abstract

344,805. Looms with automatic weft replenishment. SOC. ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES, Mulhouse, Haut-Rhin, France. Sept. 9, 1929, No. 27320. Convention date, March 7. [Classes 142 (i) and 142 (iii).] The loom is of the kind wherein, upon exhaustion of weft, the loom is stopped, a separate shuttlechanging mechanism is put in operation, and then the loom is restarted. The driving pulley 1 and an integral pinion 19 are loose on the main shaft 3 which is geared by reduction gearing 4, 5 through the cam shaft 6 to the crank shaft 7. The shaft 3 carries a brake 8 and a friction clutch 2 co-operating with a clutch part on the pulley 1. The pinion 19 drives the shuttle-changing cams 17, 17a, 17b through gearing 20, 21, 22 and a clutch 23, 34. On exhaustion of the weft the lever 10 is moved anticlockwise depressing the rod 11 from a catch and pulling down the rod 60 thus releasing the catch 15 and allowing the spring 16 to apply the brake 8, 9. Simultaneously the rods 11, 12 are moved to the left by the strong spring 11a and the lever 13 moved by the stop 12a to disengage the clutch 2. The lever 25 at the same time lifts the catch 26 and allows the spring 27 to engage the clutch 23, 24. The now rotating cam 17 through levers 30, 31, 33, 35 lifts the shuttle box side 28 and ejects the empty shuttle, and through the lever 38 and rods 37, 39 releases the brake and re-sets the rods 11, 12, but the clutch 2 is kept out by the catch 41. The cam 17a through the levers 43, 44, 45a first moves the shuttle-carrier 42 against the catch 47 to release a shuttle 48 and then allows the spring 42a to transfer the shuttle into the box. Finally the cam 17b through the levers 50, 51, 52 lifts the catch 41 to restart the loom and disengage the clutch 23, 24, the lever 28a being again engaged by its catch 26. The ejected empty shuttle normally hits a plate 54 and displaces a catch 55, 56 which is retained in its displaced position by another spring catch 58, until the stop 59 on the transferrer trips the catch 58. Should the empty shuttle be not properly ejected the catch 55 will engage the stop 59 and prevent shuttle replenishment.
