Abstract
343,864. Trees and stretchers for boots &c. REHKEMPER, J. H. and BOHMER, R., Haspe, Westphalia, Germany. July 10, 1930, No. 20867. Convention date, July 10, 1929. [Class 17 (iii).] A shoe stretching and widening device has mounted thereon a support adapted to engage and support the sole of a shoe during widening. As shown, a stretching and widening device comprising a pair of pivoted members 2, 4 carrying members 8, 10 respectively, to engage the heel and toe, and adapted to be moved apart by a screwed spindle 12, carries a stirrup-shaped support 28, the cross part 30 of which is adapted to support the sole when the parts of the longitudinally-split toe member 10 are wedged apart by operating the screwed spindle 20. The stirrup 28 has a series of perforations 32 at the upper ends of its limbs, any pair of which, according to the size of the shoe, may be engaged with a cross-limb carried by a screwed spindle 36 passing through a nut 38 hinged to an extension on the member 4.
