Abstract
343,386. Spring mattresses. FRASER, H. A. and CRIGHTON, P. F., 13, Wharf Road, City Road, London. April 17, 1930, No. 12269. [Class 52 (iv).] In a mattress having superposed banks of upholstery springs the lower of two adjacent banks has the upper turns of its springs connected directly to the lower turns of the springs of the superposed bank and forms the sole support therefor. The superposed springs 14, 15 may have their turns interlocked as shown in Fig. 6, or the springs may be in staggered arrangement, the top coils of the lower springs 5 serving as links between the superposed springs 7 and being clipped thereto as shown in Fig. 1. The upper springs are preferably of lighter gauge wire than the lower and the latter may have a cruciform top coil to facilitate the interlocking connection with the superposed spring.
