Abstract
342,669. Ironing - presses. PROSPERITY CO., Inc., Beattie Street, Syracuse, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Davis, E.; 324, Roosevelt Avenue, Syracuse, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 3, 1929, No. 30047. Convention date, Dec. 28, 1928. [Class 138 (ii).] One of the pressing members such as the head shown comprises a perforated press plate 1, a sheet metal plate 2 spaced therefrom and secured thereto at its edges and a third plate 6 also of sheet metal and having longitudinal corrugations terminating short of the margins of the plate and communicating with one another at their ends. Steam is circulated from a pipe 8 through the chamber thus formed by the corrugations. A pipe 15 having a manually controlled valve 17 leads from the steam chamber to the chamber formed between the intermediate plate 2 and the perforated press plate, this chamber being filled with copper or other metal wool. A heat insulating plate 9a and a sheet metal cover plate 10 are provided and the head is yieldingly supported on a support 11 on the head lever 12 by spring-encircled bolts 13 secured to the press plate and passing loosely through the support 11 and plates 2, 6.
