Abstract
342,456. Cutting vegetables etc.; giraters. GRIMSEY, A., Moulsham, Bourne Road, Colchester. Dec. 10, 1929, Nos. 37913/29, 38106/29, 38238/29 and 5895/30. [Class 5 (i).] A scraping-cutter of the kind in which a box or troughlike member is reciprocated over a tinplate surface a formed with perforations d arranged in staggered order to form the cutting edges, has the box provided with a hinged lid m adapted to be engaged and depressed by the fingers of the hand gripping the box to feed the material in the box to the cutting surface. A guard p is provided at the back of the box to protect the thumb from the cutting surface. The sides of the box at their lower ends are bent into channel form to fit over the sides of the cutting plate which is stiffened by a bar b formed into a handle c. The cutter may be supported by a hinged folding stand r, s. In a modification the box may have a curved back. The box may be fitted on an ordinary tinplate cutter or grater stiffening rods in this case being provided from side to side of the box below the cutter.
