342,231. Wheels. BUDD WHEEL CO., 25th Street, Philadelphia, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Eksergian, C. L.; 12141, Charlevoix Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A.) May 15, 1930, No. 14974. Convention date, May 16, 1929. [Class 144 (i).] The spoked body of an artillery or like wheel is assembled with an oversized rim, which is then simultaneously contracted and flash welded to the spoke ends. The body may have oversized tubular spokes. Caps may be first spot welded to the rims as shown in Fig. 3, and the spoke ends united to the caps in the contracting and flash welding operation. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the spokes may be formed separate from the hub and may be of wire form, and the rim may be of open form. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
