[Class 94 (i).] Relates. to wrapping- machines of the kind having a wrapping-wheel with oppositely disposed pockets and means whereby an article is ejected from one pocket simultaneously with the introduction of an article into the opposite pocket. According to the invention, the ejecting means is normally operated by the pressure of an article being introduced into the opposite pocket, and an associated mechanism, which is normally inoperative, becomes operative in the absence of an article in position to be fed, to operate means within the wheel to eject the previously fed article. The articles are fed on to a table 10, in front of a plunger 9 having a downwardly depending portion 25, by which they are pushed, together with a wrapper in a vertically reciprocable guide 42 into a pocket in a wrapping wheel 12. The pocket is formed by resilient plates 64, 66, Figs. 2 and 3a, and plates 70 in a movable bar 68 constituting the bottom. Normally, the movement of the bar 68 by the incoming article serves to eject the article in the opposite pocket. If, however, no article is present on the table 10, ejectors 39, Fig. 1, mounted on the plunger 9 engage rods 69 on extensions 68<1> of the bar 68 and move the latter to effect, an ejection. During the introduction of the article and wrapper, the bars 66 form a tuck b, Fig. 8, the part C being folded down by a wiper W during the subsequent intermittent rotation. During the further travel of the article, which is effected by a transporter 102, a tuck d, Fig. 9, is made by the end of a stationary folder 88, the flaps e, f are folded in by edges 90, 140, adhesive having been applied at position P<1> by mechanism 115. The transporter is caused to describe the path shown in Fig. 2b, so that the article engaging fingers 102 move forward in a horizontal path and return at a lower level.
