340,997. Ironing-machines. PROSPERITY CO., Inc., Beattie Street, Syracuse, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Davis, E.; 324, Roosevelt Avenue, Syracuse, New York, U.S.A.) Oct. 4, 1929, No. 30181. Convention date, April 25. [Class 138 (ii).] The buck of a laundry press is provided with steaming, low-pressure air, and heating chambers 19, 20 and 24 respectively. The outer wall 22 of the outer chamber 20, which supports the padding 23, is provided with comparatively large perforations 25, and the common partition 21 between the two chambers 19, 20 is provided with fine jet openings 26 which register with some or all of the perforations 25. Independently operable pedal-actuated valves control the supplies of steam and low-pressure air to the chambers 19, 20 respectively. Instead of the chamber 20 being connected to a source of lowpressure air it may be connected to atmosphere, the ejector effect of the steam jets being sufficient to induce a flow of air outwardly through the perforations 25.
