340,800. Gas taps. GUNNING, J., 100, Holdenhurat Road, Bournemouth. Jan. 14, 1930, No. 1353. [Class 135.] A gas tap or valve operable from a distance comprises a hollow cylindrical sliding member D which is closed at one end D<1> and has a lateral aperture D‹ coinciding in the fully-open position with a passage A‹ in the casing. Preferably in an intermediate position a restricted flow is ob tained by throttling at the aperture D‹ while in the closed position the closed end D<1> seats over the discharge aperture E leading to the gasconsuming device. In the closed and intermediate positions the upper end of the valve opens up a passage F, G to a pilot jet. The valve is operated by an inextensible wire H disposed in a metal tube J and connected to a rotary switch or knob M. Indications for " on," "off," or " dim" positions are given on a scale 0 by a pointer P on the operating knob M.
