Abstract

340,109. Windscreen wipers. MOODIE, W. H. C., 18, White Street, Partick, Glasgow. Nov. 28, 1929, No. 36427. [Class 138 (i).] A wiper capable of cleaning the whole of the windscreen at one operation, and when out of action, being completely out of the line of vision, comprises three telescopic arms A, Fig. 1, jointed together, two of the arms being pivoted at opposite corners of the windscreen frame or windscreen itself. The arms A consist of inner and outer channel section members telescoping together so as to be adaptable to various sized windscreens. The channel section members carry rubber wipers B, Fig. 5, for cleaning the screens. A spring D, Fig. 3, on the driving post p ensures the wiper always being in contact with the screen. An adjusting screw H and tension springs I are attached to the spring D to vary the tension. An auxiliary flat spring G, Fig. 5, is also provided between the channel section member A and a groove piece B<1> to increase the pressure on the wiper B.
